How do I pay?

Payment is made upon a reservation being made, using paypal.

How does cancellation work?

Cancellation is no problem. If you cancel 3 or more days before a session, the amount of refund is 100%, minus any fees incurred by paypal.

What happens if I cancel less than 3 days before a session?

If you give at least 2 days notice in this circumstance, then the amount of refund is 75%.

What happens if I cancel less than 2 days before a session?

If you give at least 1 day notice in this circumstance, then the amount of refund is 50%, minus any fees incurred by paypal.

What happens if I cancel less than 1 day?

The refund amount with less than 1 day notice is 25%, minus any fees incurred by paypal.

What can be done if I am dissatisfied with a session?

We do not want you to be dissatisfied. In this circumstance, we are able to gran 100% refund, minus any fees incurred by paypal.

I received 100% refund, because I was dissatisfied. Can I schedule another session?

You are welcome to schedule a session, however, we must limit the number of full refunds that can be done to 2 per customer. At that point, there is probably a mismatch between Scholarly Tutorial Services and the student. Sometimes things do not work out, and so we recommend finding an alternative.

Can Scholarly Tutorial Services ever cancel a session on its side?

There are two important circumstances this can occur. One is illness. The other is that Scholarly Tutorial Services, upon reviewing the expected problems to be covered, finds that it would not be fair to provide tutoring. The second is reflective of a a mismatch would not be in the student’s favor. With either circumstance, the student is informed as soon as possible, and 100% refund is granted. We apologize for any inconvenience this would cause.

Scholarly Tutorial Services is cancelling a session because there is a mismatch, and the student would not be able to be helped. How much notice will it give?

At the 3 day mark before a session, Scholarly Tutorial Services will determine if there is a need to cancel. Again, under this circumstance, 100% refund is granted. We apologize for any inconvenience this would cause.

A refund is due. When should I expect it to be processed?

Refunds are generally reconciled every Monday and Tuesday of every week.

Instead of cancelling and getting 100% refund, why can’t I just reschedule?

There is a link in the software between advance payment, and the date of reservation. And so, why rescheduling may sound easy, holding payment for a future session is not in our system. Sometimes, some students do not know when they want to reschedule, and that holding payment can remain for a long time, which just complicates the accounting. Better to just issue a refund.

Can I prepay for multiple sessions at a time, its just easier?

Since there is a link in the software between advance payment, and the date of reservation, payment is made for one and only one session at a time, as the reservation is made. With this in mind, you can just an additional reservation, and pay for that one. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

How does the whole process work?

Can the tutoring session ever be done in person?

On-line tutoring saves time and money, so it is considerably easier. It is also safer for all parties involved. So, at this point, tutoring is only on-line via Zoom.

Can the student record the zoom session?

The student is entirely free to record the zoom session. Scholarly Tutorial Services will also record each session it is involved in.

Between sessions, the student has a quick question or two. Can they ask the question and what does it cost?

Scholarly Tutorial Services wants professional engagement with its students. If they run into a problem, please forward it via email. Scholarly Tutorial Services can then look at it for 10 or 15 minutes, write out some ideas or a solution, and email it back. This service is entirely free! However, it should not be utilized as a substitute for a reserved session.

Why does Scholarly Tutorial Services require an account to be setup?

The website allows certain features to become possible, but only if a person is a math client that is registered. One feature is document upload, for a related upcoming tutoring session. Without registering, anyone, even those without a need for math tutoring, could upload a document. In short registering allows the connection between uploaded documents and authentic math clients requiring tutoring.

Another feature relates to the tutoring contract. Information about it and whether or not the tutoring contract has been agreed to, is within a registered math client account.

As a math client, can I ask that my account be deleted?

It is important to remove accounts that are inactive, for whatever reason. And so, by instructing Scholarly Tutorial Services to do so, the account will be deleted.
